AP1 Academic Review Day

Years 7, 8 and 9 – Thursday 15 February 2018 – 1:30pm – 5:30pm
(Normal school day for Years 10 and 11)

Our first Academic Review Day for Years 7, 8 and 9 will take place on 15 February 2018 from 1.30pm-5.30pm. As well as receiving your child’s report, this meeting will give you as a Parent/Carer your first main opportunity to discuss their progress this year.

As you will be aware from previous communications, we have two main assessment points in KS3 that take place at the end of January (AP1) and in June (AP2). Your child’s success in these assessments is dependent not just on the work they do in the classroom but also on the amount of time they devote to studying at home and the quality of that study. Parental support in ensuring that this study is done and done well is very important to each child’s success. Before your meeting with your child’s
Academic Tutor please do consider the extent to which your child is using the support available through Google classroom and also how well they are using it. For example, do they merely read through information provided about what they need to revise for assessments or do they revise actively by writing their own questions, testing themselves and getting you to test them?

Over the next two weeks, your child’s Academic Tutor will be arranging appointments for the Academic Review Day. Can I please encourage you to make every effort to attend, so you are informed of their progress and how you can support them in preparing for AP2.
