Supporting Exam Preparation

Effective studying is essential to doing well in these exams. We’ve included some tips below for parents/carers:

  • Encourage your child to start studying now
  • Encourage your child to use the knowledge organisers and flash cards for all of the subjects. They are provided on this website and have been used all term to support your child’s learning.
  • Ask your child if you can help them: chatting to them or asking them questions from the knowledge organisers.
  • Help them to make a plan for their studying so that they cover all the work they need to. This is very important if they are to do well
  • Students in KS3 should look to study at least a couple of hours of day from now to their exams so that they can achieve the highest grades.
  • There are also practice questions to be completed for many subjects. These are similar to the ones on the exam and we encourage the students to complete these so they understand what they have to do to write excellent answers .

Spacing

From now until the exam, study in chunks and do not leave the preparation until the last minute

Use the materials to spread out your studying so everything is studied, more than twice and the practice questions are used. If you do this the actual exam in January will have no surprises and you will find that you will remember more information

Google Classroom

Your child’s has access to many  Google classroom that have all the materials they need to succeed. These materials have also been put onto the website so they can easily be accessed by parents
