Manchester United Football Club

On Wednesday 18th April, 14 year 10 pupils had the opportunity to visit the prestigious home of Manchester United Football Club – Old Trafford Stadium. Pupils were given a tour of the museum (which is home to memorabilia covering the team’s 130 year history), a private tour of the world famous Theatre of Dreams – this included an opportunity to sit in the stand, visit the home and away changing rooms, press rooms and corporate boxes. One pupil was given the opportunity to sit in José Mourinho’s chair and act as manager during a press conference, he made an impressive substitute.

Pupils finished the day with a specially tailored session in Manchester United’s Learning Zone looking at the use of social media and how Manchester United publicise their brand and that of their charity. Pupils analysed current adverts and ended by writing their own press releases. The intention of the day was to give pupils an insight into the styles of writing in a real-life setting, an essential skill for their study of GCSE English language.

Pupils were exemplary throughout the day and a credit to our school community.
Massive thank you to Mr Hawkins who accompanied us.
