Supporting Exam Preparation

Effective studying is essential to doing well in these exams. We’ve included some tips below for parents/carers:

  • Encourage your child to start studying now
  • Encourage your child to use the knowledge organisers for the topics completed so far. These can be printed off and folded in half and used to self test to learn the information.
  • Ask your child if you can help them – chat to them and see how well they are doing and where they might help
  • Ask them questions from the knowledge organisers and test how well they have learned the necessary information.
  • They should use the exam PLC to make sure they have learned everything in depth
  • Once they are confident with the core knowledge, they should then apply this knowledge to completing the practice questions that are available. These are very similar to the ones on the exam

Spacing

From now until the exam, study in chunks and do not leave the preparation until the last minute

Use the materials to spread out your studying so everything is studied, more than twice and the practice questions are used. If you do this the actual exam in January will have no surprises.

Google Classroom

Your child’s RE Google classroom has all the materials discussed above in an easy to access way. Your child has access to this – ask them to show you the knowledge organisers for the topics
