About the Role

John Henry Newman Catholic College is seeking to appoint an inspirational and experienced Head of Maths to lead our successful and ambitious Mathematics Department from September 2025.

As part of the Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Multi Academy Company (OLAAS MAC), our College is a vibrant, oversubscribed 11–19 Catholic school in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull. Visitors frequently comment on the warm, welcoming environment created by our staff and students.

We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about maths, values teamwork, and is ready to support and challenge staff to bring out their full potential. You will play a key role in shaping our curriculum, promoting high standards, and leading innovative teaching practices across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction and development of the Maths department.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Monitor and support student progress and raise achievement in maths.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities to teaching staff within the department.
  • Be actively involved in school life, including form tutoring and contributing to the Catholic ethos of the College.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS and have a strong track record of teaching mathematics at secondary level.
  • Demonstrate successful leadership or middle leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Have a clear vision for high-quality teaching and learning in Maths.
  • Show the ability to lead, support, and inspire a team of professionals.
  • Display commitment to continuous school improvement and staff development.
  • Support and uphold the Catholic values and mission of the College.
