Reflection for Thursday 20 March 2020

19th March 2020Mr B Clayton

In addition to the Daily Stop and Pray, I share a few thoughts and reflections with you.

One of the readings for Mass (yesterday) really struck me this morning as I thought about the forthcoming day, how many situations would change, much of the unknown and so much unexpected; as I prepare this for you here in my office on Wednesday evening, so much has changed since this morning, both within the College, within your family lives, within the Community of the Church, the People of God.

Moses was preparing the People of Israel for a journey into a land both distant and far away, so much would be new, so much unknown; it struck me that feels pretty much like that for us. Moses promised the people the presence of God, then as now!

Moses said to the people:

‘Now, Israel, take notice of the laws and customs that I teach you today, and observe them, that you may have life and may enter and take possession of the land that the Lord the God of your fathers is giving you.

‘See, as the Lord my God has commanded me, I teach you the laws and customs that you are to observe in the land you are to enter and make your own. Keep them, observe them, and they will demonstrate to the peoples your wisdom and understanding. When they come to know of all these laws they will exclaim, “No other people is as wise and prudent as this great nation.” And indeed, what great nation is there that has its gods so near as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call to him? And what great nation is there that has laws and customs to match this whole Law that I put before you today?

‘But take care what you do and be on your guard. Do not forget the things your eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your heart all the days of your life; rather, tell them to your children and to your children’s children.’

Heart Speaks to Heart

I came across this prayer, I thought it might help!

‘I Wish’

When you’re lonely, I wish you love.

When you’re down I wish you joy.

When you’re troubled, I wish you peace.

When things are complicated, I wish you simple beauty.

When things are chaotic, I wish you inner silence.

When things are look empty, I wish you hope

And Finally:

United in thought, reflection and prayer.

Blessings,

Andrew, SCJ

College Chaplain

Coronavirus

26th February 2020Mr B Clayton

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may now be aware that Tudor Grange Kingshurst Academy has closed as a result of a diagnosis of Coronavirus in a few students and staff who have recently returned from a ski trip to Italy.

We have taken advise from Public Health England and they have informed us that it is business as usual until such time as a member of our community has been confirmed as carrying the virus.

Be assured that we will keep you informed should the situation change, or should Public Health England issue further guidelines.

Oakerwood residential

29th November 2019Mr B Clayton

On 1 July 2020 to 3 July 2020 inclusive, we are offering your Year 8 child the opportunity to attend an Outdoor Adventure event.  The experience will take place at Oaker Wood Outdoor Education Centre, Leominster, Herefordshire.  The trip will also involve a camping experience and your child will be staying and sleeping in pods at the on-site camp site – http://www.oakerwoodleisure.co.uk

The camping facilities at Oaker Wood consist of permanent pods that sleep 6-8 pupils that have bunk beds.  The camp site offers a shower block of four showers and five, very new, outdoor eco-toilets.  There is also a camp fire we would have access to for the evening entertainment.

All food is provided for and cooked on site by the resident chef.  However, the pupils will be responsible for cleaning away, washing and drying the pots.  This will be part of their team building responsibilities.

The activities available during their stay will be:-

  • High Ropes Adventure
  • Paintball
  • Team Building Challenges
  • Rafting
  • Quad biking

We are combining physical activity and team building in the hope that relating the two activities will have a positive impact on the pupils’ social interaction.

The cost for three days activities and two night’s accommodation will be £180.00.  This will include all activities, on-site instruction and all food and drink.

To collect a letter please see Mr Briggs in 2w07
