17th October 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

We warmly invite you to the Newman Sixth Open Evening and Careers Convention on Thursday 8th November between 5.00pm and 7.00pm. The evening will provide an opportunity for you and your child to find out more about the range of courses available in our Sixth Form. There will also be representatives from a number of universities, employers and apprenticeship providers in attendance who will be able to answer any questions you may have about further study and career opportunities available at 16, 18 and beyond. It is a very important evening, an evening that will help your child to start to plan their future and one that we hope you will be able to attend.

On arrival you will be given a copy of our Sixth Form Prospectus. This details all of the courses offered in our Sixth Form including A Levels, BTEC Level 3 courses and will give you some further information about studying in our Sixth Form. During the evening you will be able to visit departments and talk to teachers and Sixth Form students about specific subjects to ensure that your child receives the most appropriate advice and guidance on subject choices. In addition, I will be giving a short presentation on our Sixth Form at 5.15pm and then again at 6.15pm along with our Head Boy and Head Girl, which will be followed by an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

Our Sixth Form provides a Post-16 education of the highest quality. This is reflected in the outstanding results our students achieve and the nature of the destinations they progress on to on completion of their studies at JHNCC.  Teachers have already built up excellent working relationships with students and are aware of the students’ strengths and needs. This results in staff delivering the highest standards of support in and outside of the classroom. In addition, our Sixth Form provides an environment where students feel happy and secure. For these reasons, so many of our Year 11 students choose to continue their education with us and we look forward to welcoming you on 8th November so you can see first hand the outstanding opportunities available to your child.

Yours sincerely,
